Proxy's origin

Proxy Retail was founded in 2016 by Anne Brockhaus. Her experience as a retail installer exposed her to chronic pain points within the industry.

She witnessed:

  • Poorly run installation companies hiring unreliable employees who couldn't be counted on to show up and get the job done

  • Reliable installers being mistreated and berated for having attention to detail and trying to make sure work was done cleanly and properly

  • Overrun budgets due to uncoordinated subcontractors

  • Missed deadlines and no updates relayed to clients due to poor communication between teams

Anne saw an opportunity to shape the installation rollout industry for the better. She wanted to raise the bar and start a company that prides itself on reliability, consistency, and quality results.

And thus, Proxy Retail was created with a surprisingly simple mindset:

“Treat employees, clients, and vendors with respect. Be responsive, honest, fair, and transparent.”

Proxy Retail is a team assembled by and drawn to a vision of conscientious quality in retail installation, nationwide rollouts, and other installation services. We serve a variety of industries and have successfully deployed projects under numerous timelines, from same-day builds to multi-week jobs.

Our team leaders have hands-on, real-world experience across each service division. Many of them successfully ran their own business in their dedicated field before joining the Proxy family, bringing their decades of experience with them. We pride ourselves on having deep institutional knowledge that's reflected in the detail of our work.

Anne Brockhaus incorporated Proxy Retail Group in 2016. Expecting to change the perception of women as leaders in the construction industry, she was faced with many challenges and preconceptions. Through firsthand knowledge as an installer, field manager and now presiding over a company she built from the ground up, Anne has earned the respect of industry executives and professionals.

Matthew Wilson entered retail fixture installations over 20 years ago and became a top installer. After spending a decade as a field installer, he became trusted with high-profile and prototype installations. Matthew made many relationships in the industry working for a variety of installation companies. He saw first-hand how badly installers and customers are often treated by these businesses.

Years later, Anne asked if Matthew wanted to work for her new company that was committed to a new way of doing things. He sought to bring respect and dignity back to the installer tradecraft. Since joining Proxy, Matthew's direction and guidance have built a brand that exceeds client expectations and delivers the proper service they deserve.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Jon Blair learned early on that he loves physical work and seeing a job through to completion. He also loves to travel even more than physical work. Combining those two passions, Jon found the retail fixture installation business and was practically raised in this industry.

He started as an associate sweeping floors in a distribution warehouse. From there, he worked his way up traveling all over the country as a lead installer. Jon then spent the next 15 years as an operations supervisor running installation companies around the US.

Jon was eager to help change what he perceived was wrong with this industry when Matthew Wilson invited him to come to work for Proxy. Having worked for several of Proxy's direct competitors over the years, Jon's experience with Proxy has been more satisfying than working anywhere else.

For more than 25 years, Jay Silva been fortunate to collaborate with a myriad of clients, transforming their visions into reality. Leveraging his expertise in both experiential marketing and retail installations, Jay has maintained a focus on delivering meaningful connections between brands and consumers, driving tangible results. Having worked in numerous roles at agencies large and small, his professional journey has revolved around developing and implementing brand experiences.

Joining Proxy Retail as a former client has been immensely rewarding for Jay. From the jump, it was immediately apparent that he was part of an organization that's genuine and committed to doing what's right, while providing best-in-class service and quality work.

As the Director of Business Leadership, Jay embrace the opportunity to help shape Proxy's trajectory through strategic initiatives. Whether refining internal processes, providing mentorship to Proxy's teams, or enhancing client experiences, he's committed to driving success through hands-on leadership and strategic innovation.

DIRECTOR OF FIELD SERVICES

Jon Sons has over 48 years of experience in the installation field. His background includes carpentry, residential and commercial buildouts, millwork installation, installation division management, estimating, accounting, account and client management, employee relations, fleet oversight, and safety management and training.

Jon joined Proxy Retail in 2021. Known as a jack of all trades with a strong focus on millwork, he plays a key role in leading field teams, ensuring quality installs, and keeping projects on track.
